As covered in the intro to the gallery, we've done two version of this one. In the first, we've consistently used her Iono-speak to make it feel more in character. We've been careful not to change what any of her panels actually mean, so the narrative is unchanged, and we think it adds to the vibe.

That said, we know not everyone will want that, and only providing a version like that would be totally unprofessional. From the halfway mark is a much more literal translation. Iono-speak is only used where she has definitely used one of her phrases, and we've been conservative with translating her many small mannerisms too.

Actually I'd say the opposite. Not sticking to your guns and offering two translations of the same dialogue, one with the official in-character mannerisms and one without, shows a lack of commitment to consistency and a wishy-washy approach to the character.

If people didn't want porn of Iono being in-character, they wouldn't be looking at porn of Iono. Her being a cringy memelord isn't a bug, it's a feature.

If you actually tried to do this professionally and issued this to a client, you'd get asked why you wasted so much time coming up with two different translations for the same work rather than working on two separate projects and doubling the client's (and your) potential income.

You're not being "professional," you're being "artistic." It's fine to do it for the art but just know claims of being professional by doing twice the work for a single product isn't going to be as viable long term or short term as just settling on one.

The only exception is if this is SPECIFICALLY what someone paid you for. At which point yes it would be unprofessional to not turn out what the client asked for.

Also the difference between the two versions is miniscule. If you didn't point it out I'd barely be able to tell the difference. If anything the first one is more in-character since, again, Iono is supposed to be a cringy streamer with weird vernacular. The second just reads like a boiler plate translation you can find anywhere by people who don't actually understand the character they're translating.

So yeah basically it's a pretty solid translation but your lack of commitment to one way or the other isn't good for you long term. Either you've doubled your future workload as people who don't know how translation works commission you to translate the same thing two different ways, or you've lost a lot of potential clients because the turnaround time is too long.

And if you're doing it for free? That's fine, but again that's *artistic* not *professional.*

@kyuven if this were commissioned they would discuss which way to do the translation with the customer ahead of time. Since it's presumably not commissioned, showing both is a fine choice and shows off their knowledge, care and attention to detail.
