Either it was a false positive, you already had malware on your system (that modified the binary when you downloaded it), or you were downloading something different or from somewhere else. Be that as it may, my point still stands: there's plenty of size savings to be had for no reduction in quality. Just using the default exports from Photoshop or whatever means your sizes will be massively bloated. ECT seems to be the best right now, but there are other options.
