I'm not an artist, I trace other people's artwork to i guess express myself. People can find out what I traced, and besides Greg Land is making money off of tracing porn but the difference is I don't make money off of this. Though I should credit that I'm tracing from Oremuha X and Otono Natsu, a few other doujin artists I can't remember the names of, and my attempt at "art". Kinda wish I can get more material from Oremuha X, I tried kemono.party but I guess he's not popular enough.

I too trace over other peoples work. I do it in an effort to improve my own drawing skill and I don't have any negative feelings towards people who make money off of it or just do it for the act of expression.

Thank you for giving credit and I hope you keep at it!

There's no shame in tracing qua tracing. The problem comes when people try to pass it off as something it isn't -- which you are explicitly *not* doing.

Many many years ago when I was in university education, I knew an art student. He showed me a tour of one of the art college buildings where beginning illustrator classes were taught. There were a lot of light tables there along with shields and hoods to keep out ambient light and isolate the artist into a more private world. In one of the beginning art classes, my friend told me they were all given the same photograph and were told to use the light tracing tables to not only trace but to add additional personal interpretations onto the drawing.

Apparently, tracing tools are a valid training method and certainly builds confidence during beginning illustration classes. But it also importantly saves time.

Professional animators use video tablets anyways, so they are drawing on top of the illustrations on their video wacom tablets.
