Some context and explanation(s), for those unfamiliar, the source for this is Star Wars: the Old Republic (SW:TOR) MMO-RPG... :)
1. Who is Mako? (basic summary) ~ Mako is one (of five) of the Bounty Hunter's Class Companions in the Bounty Hunter Class Story for 'vanilla'-era SW:TOR. Mako is a cyborg (eye and brain implants, the rest of Mako is organic human) and one of the best Slicers (Star Wars computer hackers) in the galaxy.
2. Mako's (in-game) Biography...
"Nobody on Nar Shaddaa knows quite where Mako came from (including Mako herself), but everyone agrees she was born to be a slicer. By the time she was seven it was clear she had an unnatural affinity for all things computer-related and she quickly taught herself all known programming languages.
At eight, Mako crashed the accounts of a Red Light Sector orphanage that was attempting to sell her to the highest bidder. With credits in hand and marketable skills she soon found herself running with some of the more notorious slicer gangs on Nar Shaddaa.
Seven years later Mako was found badly wounded in an alley by an aging bounty hunter named Braden. He needed a tech specialist for his crew, and she needed to get off the moon until the Hutt Cartel job that her "friends" had so spectacularly blown faded a bit from memory. With Braden and his crew, Mako discovered a love of underground Bounty Hunter culture, a Code of Honor that gave her life structure and most importantly, her first real family."
3. Mako through SW:TOR... - a.) Mako is voiced by the lovely Lacey Chabert. - b.) Mako has a connection to the Trandoshan (lizard man) Bounty Hunter, Qyzen Fess, who was a friend of Mako's adoptive father Braeden. Qyzen is one the Jedi Consular's Class Companions. - c.) In her (later) travels with the Bounty Hunter Player, Mako eventually seeks to answer the question she never had time for, "Where did she come from?" The answer turns out to be far Darker that Mako could ever imagine, as Mako crosses paths with various dopplegangers of herself (all of whom try to kill her) during her investigations. Eventually, Mako's digging leads to the discovery that Mako is a clone, one of many (32 other clones). The (very much illegal) cloning project was an attempt to produce an small army of infiltrators, Slicers, saboteurs, and assassins. The only reason Mako was not one of project results was that Mako's (infant) clone-pod was accidentally lost mid-transport on Nar Shaddaa (literally falling off the back of the truck). - d.) In later SW:TOR expansions, when Mako is separated from the Bounty Hunter Player for years, Mako goes on to become a full-fledged Bounty Hunter in her own right. Mako also finds an efficient Bounty Hunting partner and good friend in Akaavi Spar, a fierce (female) Zabrak Mandalorian Bounty Hunter (Akaavi is one of the Smuggler Player's Class Companions).
Is Star Wars: the Old Republic good? I like Kotor but remember being put off wehen I played it years ago and didn't quite like it, but maybe it was just my frustration with it not being Kotor 3.
