They only live in a single city and if he was working on something big I am certain everyone whould know about him and his daughter. What you should really be wondering about is whose side she is on. For whatever motives she could have killed her father or be in league with these creeps and just playing the innocent act. It is very suspicions how long she took to get that door closed. Or how she was evading them and now suddenly now that the detective is here they are running into these hooded guys left and right.
