To me, these doujins are almost canon. No one has even made a better Spice and Wolf work; they fit the story so well one could easily imagine that Kogetsu Ray actually knows Hasekura Isuna....

If he ever made a Magudala de Nemure (Hasekura-sensei's newest novel) doujin, I could die a happy man.

Aaargh. I really want to like this, but the constant grammar mistakes are like jolts on an otherwise enjoyably smooth road. It would be great if you could get a proof-reader for future translations, to help your English sound natural. There are lots of mistakes here that no native speaker would make.

@Katzius - Translation is sometimes a tricky balancing act between being faithful to the original Japanese and as you mentioned having it sound natural. While I did not go through and fix every grammar error I did fix many of them from the English version I found online. For me translating is a slow, time consuming task that certainly others are better at than I am since I have to look up and double check most kanji. Because of this I was very conservative on the re-wording of things unless I was absolutely certain in it's translation accuracy without having to look something up every single time. If I was too crazy with edits I get complains that's "That's not what was said!" from others so I'm kind of screwed either way.

I was only commissioned to do the decensoring anyway not to upgrade the English version to the higher resolution RAW scans, translate, typeset and correct grammatical errors from the English version. I did that partially just because of my appreciation for the quality of the material and as Blake81 put it "...these doujins are almost canon." I feel the same way which is why I did any grammatical corrections at all. It's easy to complain online it's actual work to do something right.
