Girlfriends 4 Ever – DLC1+2 – Release Event!

We have been experiencing intermittent hosting service interruptions. The good news is that we’re taking measures to have this resolved over the next week or so, moving to a much beefier setup! So today I wanted to talk about teaser a little and address some of the questions that have been raised.

The DLCs contains 4 longer animated scenes serving either as an introduction or well… cum fest :D This particular scene was actually created last out of the 2 DLCs and showcases Tara’s persuasive negotiation skills.

In terms of animating, my element is definitely sex scenes, which is a topic all to itself, but in terms of the most challenging it has to be dialogue, because of the nuances in expression and random natural movement. It’s even more difficult keyframing from scratch with no direct references. To describe the process just a little, it’s very different to animating sex scenes. With sex scenes it’s perfectly fine let the girls do their thing and then add the voice afterwards. With dialogue… well the conversation dictates the flow of movement, so firstly the dialogue needs a skilled writer to convey the right emotions specific to the character and then the voice actresses need to interpret the script. With that you have a nice base to play the animation of. It’s really important to get good voice actresses, because just like with movie actresses they can easily break immersion if they don’t interpret the characters well. And it’s easy to see how a video reference or better still mocap could help with the realism.

On the topic of voice acting, as some of you have noticed the voices have indeed changed and if you ask me they’re equally good in tone. Very happy with how the voices turned out and what I said about being skilled at interpreting certainly applies here and as you’ll see later with sexy time! :D Some mentioned the high pitch of Sayako’s voice, well actually we did raise Sayako’s voice pitch a little to differentiate her from Tara more.

The “hidden text” is actually just “lorem ipsum” type of decoration. There’s no deeper meaning here, but considering how several people have picked up on it, if used again I might actually find a purpose for it in future :) Except for the obvious ‘I love 3DX’ part, I mean who wouldn’t agree with that :P

All in all creating dialogue whilst challenging and very time consuming was immensely fun to create especially when you see the characters come alive. Of course I’m under no illusion that my personal skill level is still very basic and we’re just at the beginning on the road to realism but that makes things all the more exciting! Thanks goes out to andiguinness for a fine job on writing the dialogue and of course the voice actresses for carrying the scene with such skill :D
