@redalf: What I'm getting out of that is you believe we should not scanlate for English readers, because the author dislikes that and might have an emotional outburst. Nevermind that he has no intention of translating his work? Rather, the one who dodged answering the most important question is he, for he did not affirm the challenge to his premise: that scanlation does not negatively affect his sales. I cannot take seriously the mentality of any creator who appeals to emotion in a discussion, favoring nuanced words like "property," "chinese pirates" and "criminal gaijins." He'd have more respect if he provided rational counter arguments to scanlation rather than childish name-calling and impulsive legal bullying. Reading that conversation at the end between the artist and translator really shows how the Japanese ero-manga industry is missing out on major dollars by trying to fight this battle about dealing with content online. I really think the Western artists who have embraced outside the box ways of getting paid for their work (Patreon is a good example) without having to worry about it getting disbursed widely is the best way to go. Unfortunately, to go that path would mean abandoning these publishing houses like DMM or DLSite which I don't think they're ready for.

I feel for the artist, but anyone who doesn't read Japanese isn't going to be buying something they don't understand.

Unless they're putting out an English release, the presence of scanlated translations isn't cutting into their sales at all.

It's really sad, that some authors not understand the importance of Enflish translation. There is no so many people, that know Japanese, outside the Japan, unlike English, that spread much more widely. Even in non-English speaking countries many people has know English at a sufficient level to understand manga. And most other translations, to different languages makes only after English translation, because it's makes from English.

And it is quite funny to hear, that unofficial translation is a crime, especially taking into account that in some countries just storage, and the more distribution of a content, such as hentai manga, considered a crime. Allegations of "illegal" translation is the last thing I would worry about.

Also, while I think sensualaoi has a very good point, the "black ships" crack was unnecessary. There will probably be a lot of Japanese authors and artists who think the scanlation scene is motivated by race bigotry, after this. At the very least, that probably shut down communication between our community and F.

This author makes no sense, sorry, but if you're going to only release Japanese versions for Japanese people, then it's bullshit you're complaining about other people releasing translations to people who you don't want to read it. By keeping it in just Japanese only and selling it on sites that only Japanese people can buy it, you are saying you only want Japanese people to have it. So, why the fuck would you get mad about other countries having it and translating it in their language, when you wouldn't be getting their money anyways?

I've tried to buy manga released on DLsite and the other one, but my cards always reject my purchase for safety reasons for some reason. So I could never buy them even if I wanted too and I would if it were for a reasonable price. The only place i can read these porn comics are from the scanlation.

The part about how people buy manga even after seeing scanlations is true, I personally have read a lot of series that I ended up buying in physical form.

You were a complete jerk to the author(both in speech pattern and the way you conducted your responses), while he showed you respect up until the last part. Also, you manipulated a lot of the "tldrs" to omit some information or they were off altogether. You completely ignored his clear desire to express that if his work becomes available to see for free, translated or not, his desire and ability to make more works in the future goes down the drain. You mentioned it once in your translation while he mentioned it constantly.

Furthermore, you posting that just to make him look bad is absolutely disgusting, and you should revise your work ethic, whether you believe you're doing a service to English-speaking manga fans or not.
