Awful plot, to be frank. This feels like it's written by someone who doesn't understand the motivations behind arranged marriages. The father exists as a one-dimensional caricature of an abuser - but even this shallow characterization is inconsistent with itself. If he cared enough to get that angry about his daughter's refusal to wed, then why would he get rid of her, when she is this important to him?

The reality of arranged marriages, especially amongst nobility, is that they were used as bargaining chips; granting opportunities for business or rulership, cementing familial ties and preventing feuding, controlling uppity nobility by placing their sons or daughters in more precarious positions, etc.
