In terms of font, I think the issue for people is more about it not being strong enough. Perhaps you should use Comic Neue Bold more. You use Comic Neue Bold Oblique more than just Normal. And yes, I get why you went with this font, and why you wouldn't go with Comic ACE, but something a bit stronger would be good.

I hadn't considered that font weight was the issue, so I kept on switching font families instead. For my next release, I'll try out the Bold variant.

If anyone has a suggestion for a publicly available font that I don't have to pay for or pirate, I'm all ears.

As happy as it makes me that summerwing did this in GIMP using Comic Neue, most people find such details irrelevant.

...still, it's a bang-on-the-dot job. If you cleaned this with GIMP, hats off, I hear it's a major PITA. I personally like the font (this was before I saw the comment that you did this in GIMP with FOSS), though I concede it's a definite deviation from the norm.

@summerwing generally what you want to do is match the font close to the original but with in reason. Some good generic fonts are 'anime ace' 'Blokleters Viltstift' 'felt' and 'letterOmatic' good places to get them and many others are fontspace, 1001 free fonts, and dafont. Other than the font problem this looks great, but i'm only an editor so I cant say anything about the translation.
