Young Justice really deserved a longer run than its mere two (2) seasons, especially since it ended with the overall plot gearing up for an epic-tier battle with Darkseid's forces.

Sadly, the series was too "smart" for the general cartoon audience, who cannot grasp the concept of a long-term story-arc ;( .

And in regards to the fate of the series, there were a lot of factors that contributed to it getting axed. Cartoon Network didn't exactly support the series and it didn't help matters when it went on a sudden hiatus for months with no indication when it was coming back. Also, bear in mind that the Young Justice cartoon series bears no resemblance at all to the current crop of DC Comics. It simply was no in DC's self-perceived best interest to have a cartoon series whose plots and characters made their comic books look bad by comparison.
