Other M was quite good and seing Samus as a human being in some sort of melancholy instead of the badass perfect woman she is all the time made me more interested in her. Ironically, i think the classic Metroids where you undress Samus based on your performance is a much worst portrayal of women than some girl which was "more or less" raised by an authoritarian fatherly figure during her teenager days...

Maybe Samus was afraid of Ridley all the time, you can't see inside the helmet after all... But despite that, she still conquer her fear and knock him dead, it's so much awesome that way. So yeah... Never understood the problem with Other M.... It's just another take of the Metroid formula which have some default here and there (Varia suit unlock was not good, i didn't find the writing bad during all the game but there is some stupid moment, investigation mode could have been more polished etc), i found Hunter on DS much more repulsive...
