@ - 7eAL -. It's a bit confusing, but every time they need it, their weapon counterpart appears out of nowhere and they certainly can "shoot" themselves.
@ Elevator Doors. Spoiler, spoiler, and spoiler: this may differ from the manga, but according to the anime, whenever they shoot themselves even if they hit people, as long as they were not "operated" by a human, people shot won't die (just watch episode 10), though it'll hurt all the same. The wounds caused by other factors will remain, though (in episode one, its apparent that Genkoku's injuries came from the hut collapsing onto him... after Funko turned it's wall into Swiss cheese. The "operator" with the hoodie is she herself, so she didn't kill them (read page 18).
