This particular book focuses on the bizarre Japanese system of public-private censorship regulation, which has reflexively tightened in response to the vague ordinances imposed at the time this was published. His foreword on the subject was unfortunately too difficult to translate.

On the theme of censorship, I urge our American readers to remember and defend our natural right to free expression, which is under constant attack by an unholy coalition of progressives and social conservatives. The justices of the Supreme Court deserve our thanks for their stalwart defense of the First Amendment in cases such as Ashcroft v. FSC, Citizens United, Phelps, Stevens, and Brown v. EMA. They protected us where we failed, but with so many of the best justices up for retirement, it will soon be up to us.
Don't just vote: get involved! Our many unique rights are those of a free, politically active people. If we fail to defend them, we no longer deserve them.
