I think... You should generally only use MTLs as a rough guide to assist in localizing the text. It'd be a lot more effort, but if you got at least 3 MTLs from different sources, you could likely deduce the actual intent of the original Japanese sentences, which would leave you in a better position to fill in the speech bubbles with sentences that are more coherent, though technically less accurate. I bet a beefy LLM could actually help with this as feeding it the rough translation and a written description of the panel that holds the sentence might give it the context for a pretty decent localization, though you'd need an uncensored LLM that wasn't afraid to write smut.

@Mrfriend53009 : You fail to see the real problem. 10 years ago with no MTL tools and an Internet more about socializing with a pseudonyme this very motivated guy would have had to go inside a translation group to find people in order to translate a dojin. Eventually he would have learned everything he needed and stayed the time he wanted... That's how it used to happens.

Right now with MTL, people doesn't need to go to group and try translating stuff directly. They are met with a lot of angry people that know ( for a reason ) that it's really bad. The highly motivated new guy is now quite sad that hours of work didn't led to appreciation and now decide to stop investing time into it. We lose a potential editor, translating groups are still empty, we get shitty translation, and everyone is unhappy.

@Potatotickle21 you still don't fully understand our problem with AI stuff. It's not an actual problem that you have uploaded this here - the problem is majority of stuff is untranslated, and uploading ANY translation - even garbage MTL one - DECREASES the chance for proper translation. Proper, as in from someone who knows BOTH japanese and english as sufficient level. And not everyone wants to work on something that is already translated in some way - because they simply can work on something new, rather than clearing up after you.
The biggest bottleneck is, and always was, actual translation. There's simply not enough people that a) know japanese, b) know english good enough (translation itself can be a bit rough in english itself, as long as source material was conveyed accurately - this can be edited by someone who uses english better than the translator) and c) want to translate porn.
What you did is you jumped over the biggest obstacle and got your hands on "translation" that you proceeded to edit into release. If this was actual, proper translation, i don't think people would have minded somewhat rough typesetting or lack of redrawing SFX. Hell, it would probably be piss easy to find someone willing to edit and TS it for you, or help you with TS if you want to do it yourself.
You are not the first one that got that eureka moment and thought "i can do semi decent job with TS, i have photoshop and can use a mouse, i know enough english to make full sentences, and AI is good enough, i'll just release stuff and people will be happy". No, they won't be, because as i said before, this is not an actual translation. What you ended wiith is english script that RESEMBLES translation. You can have better or worse MTL, but in general for comics it's shit - because you don't have enough data. It won't scan images, it won't understand context. What could be considered acceptable for lets say article (because all the context is IN the text being translated) completely fails here. Plus japanese isn't really working well with MTL. Stuff like german > english would probably go much better.

I understand you want to help. I understand you think it's unfair and frustrating that you spent time on something and people tell you it's shit and you should stop.
But as i said before, you are not helping here. You are wasting your effort and resources. Everyone can get MTL for personal use of something new. It's not rocket science. You want to really help - learn japanese. If your english is good enough, try editing. Join a group looking for novice typesetter and learn there. Learn how to redraw shit, you'll be hot stuff too. Commision a real translator. Run a H@H node. Buy raws or translation behind paywall and upload them (not necessarily from here). There are a lot of ways you can contribute if you want and people will be grateful.
But for the love of God, DO NOT UPLOAD MTL.

It's not that people here are a bunch of elitists jerks that want to hate on newbies, gatekeep knowledge, and bathe in attention from community. It's just the fact that your good intentions resulted in this still fresh work having LOWER chances of getting proper translation now that before. That's what people are angry about.

Good God you really have NO idea how any of this works, do you? There HAS NEVER been an "official translation" of this series. The group that did the last parts (RedLantern) aren't an "official" outfit, they just know what the fuck they're doing and care about outputting a quality product, very much unlike yourself. The last two chapters were commissioned by someone who gives a shit about quality, and hates getting snipped. I sincerely hope this leads to him not commissioning the 3rd chapter and this is all anyone gets to see of this in English. This is the quality the community, if you can even call it that at this point, deserves.

Being a hobbyist, or "unofficial," isn't an excuse for outputting trash. It's a cope.

You clearly actually care enough to try to make this better. For whatever reason, you decided to use Fiverrr. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that it's because you have a really bad financial situation and you just went with an unknown translator on a budget.

Please, please, /please/ do not do this. As others have pointed out, all you do is make the peopel who are interested in translating, less likely to do so, because they only see the language tag, and not the "rough translation."

People aren't mad at you because the translation is low quality-- not entirely because of that. People are mad because you don't really get why what you're doing is an issue. If you were dropping an absolutely dogshit translation, but were actually earnestly trying to deliver something and trying your hardest to use your knowledge of Japanese, people would be mad, but at least appreciate your spirit. They'd point you in the direction of where to find editors, even probably give you advice on where to look to get more Japanese lessons and ask you to try again in the future.

But using AI, or comissioning a translator from a source that doesn't have the reputation here, or we can actually verify as being good at translation, or god forbid, used AI themselves, all it shows is that you don't actually care.

Being more pragmatic, why are you doing this? For clout? All you are doing is dropping a terrible project on us.

To be honest, I don't really care about clout or attention. There are two reasons why I did this one I really liked F.W.ZHolic work and two I wanted to try something new so I used one of F.W.ZHolic’s works to test out translating and posted it here to see whether you guys think it's good enough or not. Thinking about it now I probably shouldn't posted or translate F.W.ZHolic work for a first-timer and should have done a lot more research, but I’m thankful for the advice whether it’s hateful or helpful I don’t think what I say anymore would pleases or satisfied you, as you already made up your mind at this point. Since I saw the consequences of my actions there is probably a 60% chance this Doujinshi series is ruined and might never get a translation in the future so I’ll just disappear and never return back.
