Unfortunately it seems you also joined the team "Let's ruin the quality of color images by saving them as PNGs with 256 colors" . I don't know if it was on purpose or just an accident but even saving the color images as 95% quality JPGs would have left the images with more image quality than index mode PNGs.

It's just sad that this plague is spreading.

Yes, you did. Maybe not on purpose but by exporting them in "Indexed Mode" you reduced the color depth to 8bit total not per channel as in RGB mode. If you don't believe me use the Windows photoviewer or any other program you like and take a look at the color depth for front and back cover for yourself . It's 8bit so 256 colors Max. Your Credit page is indeed 24bit so around 16.7 million possible colors.

Wow, PS must be really bad at exporting JPGs. In GIMP I don't really notice any heavy artifacting while exporting with 95-97% image quality especially when it comes to scans.

Here is experiment for you: Open the front cover as RAW or a 95-97% Jpg export from your edited cover and the current PNG front cover and zoom in (300-400% for a good view) on the glasses, eyes or skin region with a gradient and then decide wich image has the higher image quality.

Why do people nowadays always see agression when someone simply tries to state disappointment over some thing that happened.

And the explantion is in the second sentence you quoted. More and more people are saving color images as PNGs with only 8bit color depth. If you want to know why I think this is a terrible trend do the experiment I posted above.

I also had nearly the exact same discussion with another scanlator quite a while ago.
Than there is hardcaseshitsaves (not the actual name though) who always ruin color images by saving them as 8 bit PNGs exepct for one case that I can remember and that was probably just an accident.

And as of lately I noticed a small but steady increase of these cases from other scanlators while creating the thumbnails that I use to keep an overview over my way to large collection.

And there is also the thankfully single the case of one group of i****s converting the colored front and backcovers of one doujin from 24bit JPGS to 8 bit PNGs whlie saving the greyscale pages as 24bit PNGs.

Not sure what you're talking about. I didn't export them as PNGs with 256 colors. If I did, they'd be more than twice the size they are now.

Saving as JPG, even at 95%, leaves noticeable artifacting, so I'm not sure how it'd be better even if I did export as PNGs 256 either way.

edit: k, I see what you mean now. PNG-8 is bad for this. PNG-24 is fine but honestly the size bloated. This should be good enough.

My guy, why do you have to sound so aggressive while criticizing one of the best and fastest translators on this site, okay sure, you told them how to fix and gave constructive criticism but were those quotes really necessary?

People make mistakes and you should point them out, sure,"cutegyaru" made one mistake and you immediately throw them at the fire, they even fixed it and you can clearly see that person cares about the work and you don't even apologize for that shit you just told them.

I just think we should show respect and appreciate hard-working people especially with how much MTL trash is being released lately here, otherwise why should they even bother.
