Dunno if this is stepping on anyones toes or w.e but I uploaded a zip where I basically cut the image sizes in half. They look exactly the same (aliasing and all), but they're half the size. Minus the omake, which I just converted to minimally compressed JPG's. Final file size is 270MB. So a little under a third of the original file size. I've left them all as PNGs.

I'm on a 1440p (2k) monitor and they're still damn huge. I would've converted to JPG as well but I would've had to go below the level 10 preset (out of 12) in compression, and I hate going below 'Maximum quality'. If anyone is interested they can hit 8 'High' and cut around 50 more MB's off the total folder size.

I love uncompressed uploads because it 'future proofs' it a little. I can compress on my end no problem. I look at all the 2010 era uploads and they're tiny. The ones that are like 3000x high were 'ridiculously big' for the time, coming in at a whopping 2 MEGABYTES PER IMAGE! Now I look at that and laugh. So yeah, large file sizes are appreciated. But I hope this still helps someone that still wants files larger than 1280x but not almost a gig in total folder size.

@Shakezoola - Not to bother, but I would like to know what tools and configuration do you use to compress files. I have a bunch of doujins and other image files and they are taking too much space.
I have IrfanView but I don't have too much knowledge on the best file type and configuration is the best without loosing too much quality.

@Firebaby95 - Photoshop. CS6. I think after 6 they have some sort of always online shit going on.

Save as -> JPG and then you get a prompt for quality. 1 to 12. 12 is maximum with no compression, I assume. 10 is the lowest on 'Maximum', after that you get to 'High'.

TBH you can go up to 6 or so and not notice any discernible quality difference, iirc. I might've saved an image or two that way. But I don't like going below 8, preferably I stay at 10. Saving PNG's as JPG's lowers size no matter what anyway, and 2 to 5 mb an image is acceptable to me.

Some black and white PNG's aren't in greyscale, but indexed colors. Meaning that you can't save as JPG. You have to greyscale it first. The editor must've used a particular color gamut or something to save on space. I dunno. In those cases I believe its image->mode->greyscale. Then you can save in JPG. But in some instances, whatever indexed color was used actually saves on space more-so than the default greyscale. So you might have a 2mb PNG, and when you greyscale and try to save as JPG you have to go to 6 or 8 on the settings to save on space, and it might not be substantial.

In those cases, the default size is usually fine (2 to 4 megs or so), but in this case (with this particular gallery) I still found the file sizes huge. So I did something I never do: I lowered the image size.

image->image size. I changed the settings from pixel to 'percent' and just did 50 for width and height. I've never done this before but I like the size the images came out in. I'm sure there are more advance tricks that can be done but that's about as much as I know and do for this sort of stuff. A lot of galleries in PNG's can be shrunken down by a third of their size by just converting to JPG and saving at 10. You might have to greyscale first but usually it still saves on space anyway
