Tbf, these arts are mostly commissioned by K-san(https://ouo.io/hLteK2) to the artist. And he said in a tweet few days ago that this year, he wanted to commission this series as a more coherent and cohesive story series.

Given that it's the original brain in there and all the personality is present if mostly dormant, I'd go for the former. But it's a trick question: if the personality is still extant in SOME format the worst case it's akin to putting someone in a coma with little hope of recovery.
