As an aside: I don't really understand to the reasoning that a full time crowd-funded artist's expectation of quality should necessarily correspond to their total income.

Usually getting paid that much just means they're popular - which wouldn't really mean they're more inclined to meet to individual supporter's expectations. If anything it disincentivizes listening to every instance of feedback, because they'll rarely be able to satisfy everyone.

Granted, having to deal with a large fanbase isn't an excuse for a lower quality product. But their total pay by itself doesn't really factor into how harshly I judge them. I just give a shit if the amount I pay as an individual is worth the product I receive.

I don't really like this guys style too much so I wouldn't pay 5-8 dollars for it, but I don't give a shit whether he gets paid 10k or not.
