Kitsuneyoukai (or whoever is doing color) needs to study lighting, so many random lit and shaded areas on the character, makes it really noisy and hard to understand the form so they look unnecessarily blobby

Looking at his human characters, I found that the artist seem to like their characters thick, or at least with "some meat in them". Not only that, the way they does lighting on fur makes it look unnaturally glossy. The result of those two things combined gives the impression that we are seeing someone stuffed inside a fursuit rather than a hairy animal.

I find this artists art fascinating. It's not that it's bad, not by any means, it's just that it looks like people in fursuits rather than proper furries or people. I'm not even interested in the story or the porn, but I keep clicking here because the art is just...unique.

That ain't it. The artist has no drawing fundamentals i.e. they couldn't draw a skinny character if they tried. Watch a livestream where he chicken scratches every panel. No line confidence at all.

XD im only drafting enough to know where things need to be placed and scaled, im not going to draw like my life depends on it on the pencil phase when im going to be inking over it completely in the photoshop phase XD that'd be a waste of time. i dont draw 'skinny' people since i like rounded and or chibi characters more =l gives me a 'they are friendly' feeling imo :v
@1 on5(2): i used to draw more normal shaped character, and then i literally cut the height of my characters in half and made them more dwarfish in stature when i realized thats what i liked. :v
@ pg955203: it was part of the costume design option i put up for a vote, and the powers/ablities came after, when the species vote happened, and i worked with what may make sense for them.
@ moohoohoo: yeah sorry to disappoint you on that~ but the premise i have going, either lass or crusader getting breed would be a massive defeat effectively, and cant really do that, not so early on anyway.
@ nickmaxx: thats still very odd to hear, when i've heard from atleast 6 artists way better than me that my lighting and furry shading is really good =l and one of my moderators who knows waaay more people/artists says they hear many good things about me on it. sooo... *shrug*
@ lolquendo & MaskedSeamstress: its some combination of fold lines, to much fur detail, not enough fur detail, and expressions i've been told for many years =/ i think its mostly the fold lines, BUT i see those fucking lines IRL so ... im gonna do what my eyes are telling me should be there XD

People with no drawing fundamentals make excuses like that all the time. The "muh style" excuse is a classic. Next it'll be some nonsense about "art is subjective" when it ain't.
