Light trivia in response to Tseren09: The main religion of this world is that of the Path. It's a very philosophical approach to things, the belief that your life has a path of least resistance that will guide you to its intended goal. You can stray from your path, or create your own, but everyone has a path from birth to death. There's also some stuff in there about rebirth and how your path through one life determines your path in the next, etc.

With this religion, I needed something to replace the most commonly used religion-based explitive, "god-damn", because in the Path, there is no god, only the individual and his/her path. The idea of the coil is kind of the opposite of the path. In the context of in-world cussing, it essentially replaces the idea of hell. Hell is still occasionally used, but on equal terms with the coil, usually referring to that. You'll have noticed Lamb referencing the coil before her sex scene at the end of the last chapter, as another example of its use.

TLDR; Coil-bound basically means "God damn".
