What do you mean "they're back in that orphanage"? After Stella's dad got arrested, she had no adult to look after her, and naturally she got into the same orphanage as Evie. She couldn't continue to live in her house or even take Evie in because both were underage teens at the time. One more year, and they would become adults and may leave the patronage - that's what Stella meant by "free".
But as far as the orphanage itself is concerned, Stella had never been there. She arrived in a rather violent way and began not only to protect Evie, but also take to take revenge on her bullies she heard about before.

UPD.: And now, it seems, Evie talked some forgiveness into her.

When i visit this site i always see this furry comics since 2016 but i always ignored it because its not my thing, but this time i get curious so i decided to click and read this not gonna lie the story is heart warming i love how the artist narrate the story how the characters slowly develop entire time.
