Can anyone please explain why the husband is having sex with the maid instead of the wife from previous chapter?

Is the husband in love with the maid but cant get married due to political status so he married her mistress instead? or is the wife and maid a lesbian couple but the wife is forced for political marriage so she doesnt want to have sex with the husband so the maid does it instead?

the relationship is probably like a 2 way love triangle Tokuko probably doesnt want to do the deed or is probably "ashamed" in doing the deed so she has no knowledge on actually how to actually consummate the marriage lol

Well，the story so far is a bit...ridiculous.

The wife, Tokuko, is a daughter of Japanese noble family, growing up in a "pure" environment, so that she was extremly ashamed of even watching sex scenes. It also made she know LITTLE about how to get along WITH MEN. On the other hand, she's once engaged to a noble man, but for some reasons the engagement was soon cancelled, making she feel herself being used and then left behind, ALL BY MEN'S WILL.

After that Tokuko thought her life so far was MESSED UP BY MEN and tried hard to isolate herself from intimacy WITH MAN. As a result, when Yoshitaka (the husband, also a son of the Count Haruhira family ) proposing to her, she accepted the proposal but adduced the quatation "as a loyal man serves only one lord, a virtuous woman never marry a second man" from Records of the Grand Historian as a excuse, to refuse having sex with Yoshitaka. Instead, she asked her maid, Nami, to fulfill the role of wife in sex.

(Don't you think Tokuko used a wrong excuse? She NEVER married at all!)

Nami is not only a maid but also a close friend to Tokuko, for they're raised by the same nanny and together for more than ten years. They are not lesbian couples, though, for Tokuko just want to fill her sense of loss after "being messed up by men" from Nami. But soon Tokuko extremely regretted her decision of replacement by seeing Nami's satisfied face (after having sex with Yoshitaka), again she felt being left behind. Therefore she tried to take the initiative in sex for "retaking Nami from Yoshitaka" (it's why she dressed like Nami and tried to have sex with Yoshitaka) and unsurprisingly she failed again.

I have to say Tokuko was nothing but a capricious fool. Her misunderstanding in men and marriage barely ruined both Nami and her. Luckily, Yoshitaka didn't care about such stupid moves and did love both Tokuko and Nami. After a hot "sex lesson" held by Yoshitaka and Nami, Tokuko finally realized that she had been struggling for nonsense all along.
