Seems like it was supposed to be a 4 page comic that turned into a 22 one.
Seems also like a page is missing where the computer thing is put on and explain everything and takes the girl back to boy form.
Also also, the thing about the holographic distorsion thing was about a long term developpment, wich turned quite short in the end. A bit too short if you ask me, he could have had a bit more cognitive bout.
