That's because the actual novel takes years to create for two people, even with volunteers. This comic is being worked on by a whole team of artists, who churn out comics like this in a month and a half at the very least.

Wouldn't surprise me if we see half a dozen more DK comics from Pal before the next installment of the novel is out.
