From a biological sense, a single eye like that makes no sense. It would take up most of the upper skull, meaning the brain would have to be quite small. And the visual cortex would have to be quite large to compensate for the massive amount of visual information such a large eye would produce. Leaving very little if anything for cognitive thought, or for any basic functions really. The fact they can move their eyes eliminates the possibility of it being flat like in some reptiles [I believe, not an expert on animal biology].
Not only that, but all it would serve to do is reduce the visual clarity as well, by elimitating binocular vision. As a result, a cyclops would be almost completely unable to judge distance and position in a 3D space, abilities that are vital for survival in our world. There's a reason why every single vertebrate and almost every single invertibrate has 2 or more eyes.

Perhaps that's why she was caught as prey by the leopard at the start, though. Still begs the question how her species evolved in the first place, though.
